A Little Information About The Club

History of the field

The site is the old Little Walden Airfield which was a live airfield from 1944 to 1958 and was home to the 409th Bombardment Group and the 361st Fighter Group. With the original hangers and control tower in view from the field it really is a great place to fly.

Grounds keeping

Our Model flying site is well cared for; we regularly invest in improving the grass surface and continue to maintain it to a high standard through regular mowing and treatment. The pits and car parking areas are situated on a hard surface that surrounds the flying site, enabling flying to take place throughout winter without a risk of getting covered in mud. Occasional work parties are organised throughout the year as the need arises to keep the site in tip-top condition.

The Committee

The Club is run by a committee elected by its membership at an Annual General Meeting held each year in November. The current committee members have more years associated with Aeromodelling than they care to remember but their passion for the hobby is as strong as ever
